A strong and distinct facet of Manav Sthali School legacy has been its holistic education and nurturing global citizens. The ISSE Programme, under the leadership of Director and Founder Principal, Mrs. Mamta V. Bhatnagar exemplifies the school ideology of broadening the global perspectives from 1984 – 2000.
The first exchange between India and Mexico was led by the of Director and Founder Principal, Mrs. Mamta V. Bhatnagar creating lasting bonds of friendship with the Mexicans.
Carrying the conviction of torch forward, Principal Mrs. Dipti A. Bhatnagar along with Ms. Rashmi Chawla International Exchange Coordinator, have revived the International Exchange Programme under MSS Bridging Borders with moto of Exchange, Engage, Enrich in collaboration with ISSE. On 30th April 2025, a solemn Hawan ceremony was conducted, to invoke blessings and ensure the safe and successful journey of five students along with one Senior Teacher. The School Principal and IE coordinator, extended their heartfelt wishes to the delegation, inspiring them to embark on this journey with confidence and as ambassadors of Indian Culture.
The exchange program commenced on 3rd May 2025, with five Indian students – Ms. Prateeksha, Mst. Tanish juneja, Mst. Manvik Juneja, Mst. Anushray Walia, Mst. Suhaan Sikka, accompanied by an Indian leader – Mrs. Sonia Wahi. They were warmly received by their Mexican leader, Mrs. Rosa Elena, along with five Mexican students and their families who had visited India in July 2024.
On 5th May, the delegation was formally welcomed by NC School, where Mrs. Sonia proudly represented India as the group leader, marking the revival of the ISSE program. NC School warmly welcomed the Indian delegates with great enthusiasm, showcasing vibrant hospitality and a spirit of cross-cultural friendship. The cultural presentations by the Indian students were a true reflection of India’s rich heritage. Prateeksha introduced herself with a graceful dance performance titled “Bharat Ki Beti.” Manvik’s melodious Casio rendition, accompanied by Tanish on the bongo, mesmerised the audience. Anushray beautifully recited his heartfelt poem “My Country,” leaving a lasting impression. Suhaan’s captivating skating performance won the hearts of all the students and added great energy to the event. Filled with pride and emotion the group sang Vande Matram expressing their love and respect for their motherland – INDIA.
As part of the ISSE program, the delegation participated in a series of enriching field trips that offered deep insights into Mexico’s vibrant culture, history, and natural beauty. These thoughtfully curated visits by Ms. Rosa and NC School team included:
Papalote Museo del Niño, Museo Nacional de Historia Natural, Downtown Mexico City, Zócalo (Main Square), Templo Mayor, Metropolitan Cathedral, Palacio de Bellas Art, Xochimilco (Floating Gardens), Teotihuacán (Pyramids of the Sun and Moon), Chapultepec Park, Museo Nacional de Antropología, Zoológico de Chapultepec, Mineral del Monte, Teotihuacan, Ballet Folklórico at Palacio de Bellas Artes, Coyoacán (Historic and Artistic Neighborhood).
These excursions provided the students with a deeper appreciation of Mexico’s heritage and offered invaluable cross-cultural learning experiences.
On 14th May, Indian Day was celebrated with great pride and fervour in the school auditorium, attended by over 120 students and Mexican parents. The event was inaugurated by the esteemed Elementary School Director, Ms. Gaby. The students of Manav Sthali School showcased the essence of Indian culture with elegance and confidence. The program commenced with a serene Ganesh Vandana, invoking blessings for a successful event, followed by an engaging and informative presentation that highlighted the beauty, diversity, and heritage of India.
Drawing inspiration from the ideals of Krishna and Arjuna, the students creatively depicted India’s remarkable journey of growth and development. A vibrant dance performance on “Chak De India” electrified the atmosphere and captivated the audience. The celebration concluded on a patriotic note with the Indian National Anthem, followed by a sumptuous Indian lunch prepared by the Indian delegation, the golgappe and bhel puri being the crowd favourites offered a delightful taste of India’s culinary richness, leaving a lasting impression on all.
As part of the cultural exchange program, the team visited various classes to discuss India’s rich heritage and cultural traditions. Engaging activities such as quizzes were conducted by Indian students, where they distributed traditional Indian candies to their Mexican counterparts, further enhancing the spirit of friendship and cultural bonding.
To foster cultural exchange and meaningful interaction, sixth-grade classroom integration sessions were organized, allowing Indian and Mexican students to collaborate, learn, and engage with one another. This initiative provided a wonderful opportunity for students from both countries to share ideas, build friendships, and gain a deeper understanding of each other’s cultures within a real classroom environment.
A special emphasis was laid on Yoga, with a live demonstration of Surya Namaskar, highlighting the significance of physical and mental well-being rooted in Indian practices. The exchange program also featured friendly soccer and volleyball matches, fostering team spirit and camaraderie.
In a delightful turn, the senior-most students of the NC School took the initiative to teach the Indian group basic phrases in the Mexican language and Mexican dance form, promoting mutual learning and respect.
Another heartwarming highlight was the “Iron Chef Challenge” during which students from both countries prepared and shared dishes from their native cuisines, celebrating culinary diversity.
From 19th to 22nd May, the ISSE group, along with Grade VI students, participated in an engaging camp program. During this time, they explored a variety of activities such as basketball, volleyball, painting, dancing, glass painting, and learned important mountain climbing safety rules. The camp also encouraged students to develop independence and responsibility by managing their routines and tasks without parental support. They also thoroughly enjoyed bonfire evenings and a lively disco night, making memories that will last a lifetime.
The ISSE program concluded successfully on 25th May, marking the end of a memorable and enriching journey. The students returned with hearts full of joy, cultural insights, and unforgettable experiences & everlasting friendships beyond oceans ,language & culture.
It was a journey of learning, bonding, and personal growth that will be cherished for a lifetime, carrying the essence of this beautiful exchange across borders.
